Bill Adjustment Policies
The South Island Public Service District Commission hereby adopts the following policy statement on the adjustment of water bills. This policy is to ensure the fair and equitable treatment of all customers.
- In-Home Leaks - The property owner
will be required to provide the District a written statement
describing the problem and proof of the action taken to resolve the
problem. The bill will be adjusted based on the average use of the
prior four quarters which will indicate the applicable water usage
rate for all excessive use (i.e. anything over 75,000 gallons per
quarter).
- Irrigation System Leaks - The property owner will be required to provide the District a written statement describing the problem and proof of action taken to resolve the problem. The bill will be adjusted on a one-time basis per property owner. The adjustment will be made by averaging the water use over the prior four quarters which will indicate the applicable water usage rate for all excessive use (i.e. anything over 75,000 gallons per quarter). However, under no circumstances will the rate be reduced below $2.50/1,000 gallons.
